I don’t know where to begin with telling you how excited I am about the store opening in only a few days. It seems like just yesterday that my family and I travelled to Westwood to see the site. That actually happened over a year ago! I have included some photos of the store’s progress since that visit. We are just a short time away from opening the most up-to date Wegmans in the world! I am humbled by this opportunity. If the folks that have been stopping by to check on us are any indication of the excitement for our opening, we’re going to be very popular!
The Wegmans design and construction teams have created a beautiful store for us. When you enter the store you will see for yourself why I am very proud of the construction team. Our design team has gone to great lengths to make your shopping trip fun and easy. Here’s a little preview, when you’re here, look for our store’s rooster to share the time of day and don’t forget to visit our little toy train.
What makes Wegmans a great place to shop is our people. We couldn’t be prouder of the 500+ folks that joined our team in Westwood! Over the past several months these folks have been very busy with their training and now that they have the tools to be successful, it’s time to open the store for your enjoyment. We will be ready to greet you on October 11th with a knowledgeable and happy team of people. I am often asked by staffing professionals from various industries just how we find such great people to help us serve our customers. I always tell them the same thing, we hire people for their attitude. If we get that part done right then we can invest in their training and inspire knowledgeable employees that love people and food!

We have over 1000 parking spots just waiting for you! You’ll find our plaza easy to navigate and get around in.
Our Market Café offers exceptionally delicious meals, and there are over 300 seats for you to enjoy it. And best of all, it’s affordable! When you are here be sure to say hello to Brendan Newhart, our store’s Executive Chef. Brendan and his team will be more than happy to answer your questions.
Do you like coffee? Then you’ll love the Buzz! It’s a fresh choice whether you are here first thing in the morning or later in the evening.
Oh, did I forget to mention that Wegmans has its own magazine? Inside our colorful, recipe-packed issues, you’ll find plenty of ideas for easy fall meals!
Here’s something that a lot of our shoppers are surprised to learn, we have over 3,000 delicious organic items to choose from throughout our store.
And if you have other dietary needs then you should check out the Wellness keys on all of our Wegmans brand items. Trying to avoid gluten? Then look for the little G Key. Trying to cut back on your salt intake? Then look for the LS Key.
Let me take you on a mini-tour…first stop, our Meat and Seafood Departments: Our teams here really know their business. We send our folks out to the pastures and coastlines to learn about the products they sell, so they can answer your questions about which fish to buy or how to cook a roast.
Next stop, our Cheese Shop! Ever shop at a grocery store that has its own cheese caves? Our Cheese team loves helping you find the perfect cheese for tonight’s dinner or Saturday night’s party. We train all of our folks at Wegmans Cheese University, an intense 20-week course that gets them ready to serve you.
The perfect next stop after cheese is our Wine and Beer store. Our team knows how to pair the cheese you just picked up (or the meal you’re planning) with a wine that enhances it perfectly. I love to share a wine that I enjoyed and then ask the team to recommend another that I might also enjoy. It’s a great way to discover new wines. I also enjoy doing this same thing with craft beers.
Before we conclude our little tour, we should swing by the Pharmacy and meet the team there. They are the finest group of professionals you’ll ever meet in a Pharmacy. Their compassionate care, high standards, and efficient service will make your experience extraordinary. I know this because my family and I are customers of theirs. I also know what it’s like to have a whirlwind of information coming at you when you or someone in your family is in need of a pharmacists care. We staff our pharmacies with people that care about people first. Maybe that’s why J.D.
